Automotive Biometric Seat Technology

Image credited to Kyleigh Hillerud     Assalamualaikum and good day. Welcome back to my blog and for those who are new, please consider subscribing to my blog for more info on Automotive Technology. In this blog, I'm going to share about automotive biometric seat technology and all about it.       Biometric technology began with a fingerprint recognition method to unlock telephones and soon expanded to incorporate face and iris identification. Biometric technology is now gaining prominence as a next-generation technology that improves security while also improving convenience and healthcare. This is the reasoning behind the active usage of biometric technology in the car industry, notably biometric seats.      The Biometric Seat works by monitoring the driver's heart rate, breathing rate, and body temperature via a series of fast-responding sensors. Using this information, the car can provide warnings if it deems that the driver is too...

Push Button Start System

Assalamualaikum and good day. Welcome back to my blog, and for those who are new to my blog, I would appreciate if you subscribe. In this blog, I'm going to share about the push button start system on how it works, how to use it and more. A key fob with a push button start allows drivers to start their engine by pressing it. However, you will be unable to start your automobile if you do not use the brakes. Similarly, if you don't put your gear in park, your push button start will not stop your engine.
Only keyless ignition systems have push-button starters. Mercedes-Benz was the first automotive manufacturer to mass-produce keyless ignition systems. Today, other luxury automobile companies, including as Rolls Royce, Acura, and Lexus, now produce branded keyless fobs.
Although keyless fobs are becoming increasingly popular, they have yet to dominate the market. Many low-cost car manufactures still utilize manual keys. Nonetheless, because of the difficulties they have gripping a car key, senior drivers and arthritis sufferers are beginning to choose keyless ignition systems.
Each automobile has its own push button start. Each key fob has a signal that connects it to the vehicle's ignition. As a result, your car's ignition will only turn on when you click the start button on your original key fob. To start your automobile with your key fob's push-button start, you must press the button within a few feet of where your vehicle is parked.

How Push Button Start System works

A keyless ignition system is used in push-button start vehicles. While the systems differ from one another, they share the feature of replacing the traditional metal key with a key fob. The fob must be inside the vehicle for the computer system to interface with it, allowing the driver to start the vehicle simply by pressing a button.
The key fob functions as a transmitter, sending a low-frequency signal to the automobile. This ID signal is unique to that vehicle; when you insert the fob into the car and push the button, the car's receiver detects the signal and delivers power to start the engine.
In addition to convenience, keyless entry was used with the goal of reducing car thefts. Because the automobile will only detect the signal from that one fob, stealing your car will be more difficult. To start the automobile, the vehicle must be in park and the driver's foot must be on the brake.
The only actual difference between a push-button start system and a traditional keyed ignition is that a key is not required to close the ignition circuit. That is what the button does. Pushing the button has the same effect as turning the key. The fob is the system's true beauty, ensuring that only you can start the automobile.

Advantages of Push Button Start System

  • Security and convenience are two advantages of a keyless system. It is far more difficult to steal the car since a potential thief would require your key fob. It's also more handy because you simply have to carry the key fob with you. This eliminates the need to fumble for keys or explore the depths of your pockets or handbag for them.
  • Many systems also employ rolling codes. The key fob sends a code, which the vehicle's computer looks for. The car will not start until the code is obtained. Computer-encrypted microchips are also used in some systems. These features add additional levels of security.
  • The technology enables automobile owners to have the convenience of a remote start, which may be a terrific method to warm up the car while it is still secured and parked in one's driveway.
  • Push-button-start fobs reduce the chances of car accidents because your engine won’t start until you put your foot on the brake.
  • Keyless ignition systems allow you to start your engine even if the battery in your key fob is dead. In such instances, contacting your manufacturer's emergency support department is the simplest approach to unlock your automobile. You may contact your automaker via phone or through the brand's mobile app.
  • Some luxury manufacturers even provide roadside assistance services, where a professional will unlock your vehicle for you. If you're lucky, your automobile manufacturer may even conceal a spare mechanical key within your key fob. To open the vehicle, put the alternative key into the emergency port.

Disadvantages of Push Button Start System

  • Lost fobs are much more expensive to replace than traditional keys.
  • Because most modern car models have quiet engines, it is easy to forget to turn off your engine when utilizing a keyless ignition system. Drivers who use mechanical keys are less likely to encounter this issue since they can see the key put in the ignition system. Users with push button start key fobs, on the other hand, may leave their car without turning it off because the key fob is likely tucked into their pockets.
  • Several drivers have been injured because they failed to put the vehicle in park before exiting. If you leave your vehicle in gear, it may leap forward, pull you, and crash into an object or another vehicle.
  • If a fob's battery dies, the driver must know how to override the system and locate/use the hard key buried in the gadget - or call roadside help.
  • Push button start key fobs are easier to hack than traditional keys. Car thieves who are technologically competent can employ artificial intelligence systems to detect the unique signal from the key fob and use it to unlock or even start a vehicle's engine.

Potential problem of Push Button Start System

There are a few drawbacks to push-button start systems. For example, the fob can be withdrawn from the automobile while it is running and have no effect on the functioning. The engine will continue to operate until the automobile runs out of gas. Another possible concern is that the car may be turned off while still in drive, which means it could roll accidently if you get out without using the parking brake.

We have finally finished discussing the push button start method. As I mentioned in my last blog, some of you may find it difficult to understand what this blog is about. This is why I've attached a YouTube video from SaferCarTV to demonstrate the push button start technology. This video should be beneficial.

As we near the end of this blog, we can conclude that the push button start system is an excellent technology that benefits both you and your vehicle. Automobile makers are constantly upgrading this technology, making it more accessible and affordable solutions that can be added to or purchased with older car models to boost driver safety.
